Cluny

Cluny is about an hour from Puligny Montrachet and is well worth a visit if you like history and fantastic architecture.

The town grew up around the Benedictine Abbey of Cluny, founded by Duke William I of Aquitaine in 910. The height of Cluniac influence was from the second half of the 10th century through the early 12th.

You can see from the slider above how stunning the Abbey is. And they have provided lots of really interesting information about the construction and the conservation which makes it really worth the visit.

Cluny also has some very nice bars and bistros, so there is ample opportunity to stop for a rest.
